Funding opportunities
Dr. and Mrs. W. C. Culp Student Research Grant
Designed to foster an interest in research by funding a summer research project conducted by a medical student in an area identified by SIR Foundation as important to the advancement of interventional radiology and patient care.
Radiology Resident Research Grant
Fosters an interest in research by funding a project conducted by the resident to advance IR and patient care.
Dr. Constantin Cope Medical Student Research Award
Introduces interested medical students to the greater interventional radiology community at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. Recognizes the student author of an accepted abstract that best honors the spirit of inventiveness and scientific purity.
Resident Research Award
Provides residents and fellows an opportunity to attend and present their scientific research at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. The intent is to expose young researchers who wish to further their careers in interventional radiology.
SIR/RFS Clinical Advancement Award
Seeks to acknowledge one (1) outstanding resident annually who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to expanding their clinical advancement during the early postgraduate years.
JVIR Resident Editorial Fellowship
This prestigious fellowship offers an immersive experience in the editorial process of a leading IR journal to a highly selected group of trainees. Participants shadow editorial leadership, engage in strategic discussions and decision-making, and receive valuable instruction on scholarly writing, reviewing, editing, and publishing.
Grants for Education of Medical Students (GEMS) Program
This program provides first-generation medical students with scholarships to fund visiting clerkship rotations in interventional radiology and attendance at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting.
Summer Medical Internship Program (SMIP)
Fosters an interest in research by funding a summer research project conducted by a medical student. Students applying for the program must show strong potential for a career in IR with proven academic success.
Resident-in-Training Travel Scholarship
Offers IR and diagnostic radiology residents in their early years (PGY-1–4) to attend the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting.
Medical Student Scholar Program
Provides medical students with an immersive experience to learn about IR at an early stage in their medical careers.
Trainees First
Offers residents the opportunity to participate with their program director in the review of abstract submissions for the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting.
Reviewer-in-Training Program
Trains and mentors individuals to review grant proposals and learn the grant review process to be able to participate in various study sections ranging from society, foundation and government agencies (such as the National Institutes of Health).
