Society of Interventional Radiology names Saher S. Sabri, MD, FSIR, president for 2026–2027
Other key leaders of SIR and SIR Foundation announced.
TORONTO (April 14, 2026)— Saher S. Sabri, MD, FSIR, an interventional radiologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., assumed the office of president of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) on April 14 during the SIR 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto.
“As I step into the role of president, I look forward to continuing strong advocacy for interventional radiologists and ensuring our members are recognized for the value they provide to the healthcare system and improving patient access to high-quality care,” said Sabri.
Other incoming officers of SIR’s 2026–27 Board of Directors include President-elect Kelvin Hong, MD, FSIR, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Baltimore; newly appointed Secretary Nishita Kothary, MD, FSIR, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California; and Immediate Past-president Robert A. Lookstein, MD, FSIR, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.

The SIR Foundation board appointed Shellie C. Josephs, MD, FSIR, as the chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors. She is a pediatric and adult interventional radiologist and vice chair of operations and quality in the Dotter Department of Interventional Radiology at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
“As incoming chair, I am deeply committed to building on SIR Foundation’s legacy of discovery and ensuring that the next generation of IR leaders have the resources to transform patient care,” said Josephs.
