Research Priorities
Foundation
The SIR Foundation has determined the research priorities, which serve as the research agenda for the next 2 years. This process allows us to address the issues of highest importance to our membership, patients, corporate partners, and policymakers. Below is the list of the approved and selected research priorities for SIR Foundation for 2026 and 2027.
- Cryoablation for breast cancer
- The increasing role of endovascular therapy for treatment of common femoral artery lesions
- Opportunities for AI integration to facilitate triage and endovascular treatment access in acute ischemic stroke
- Role of locoregional therapies for oligometastatic metastatic disease
- Examination of cost effectiveness, quality of life, shared decision making, patient experience/patient reported outcomes and access to IR therapies in the genitourinary space (ablation, prostate artery embolization, varicocele, pelvic congestion, percutaneous nephrostomy, etc.), particularly in comparison to traditional therapies
- Determining the role of established and emerging IR techniques in the treatment of pediatric desmoid tumors
