SIR asks BCBS to reconsider PNS policy
On Oct. 14, in collaboration with the Multisociety Pain Workgroup (MPW), SIR sent a letter to multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) organizations to express concern regarding the draft policy, "Implantable Peripheral Nerve Stimulation for Chronic Pain Conditions, MED 205.042," which indicates that peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) is considered experimental, investigational, and/or unproven as a treatment for chronic pain.
