Society of Interventional Radiology selects 32 Fellows

Physicians recognized for achievements in research, scientific literature, teaching and leadership at SIR 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting

WASHINGTON (March 6, 2017)— The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) inducted 32 new Fellows during its Annual Scientific Meeting, March 4–9 in Washington. This honor, achieved by fewer than 10 percent of SIR members, is bestowed to those who have demonstrated excellence in research, published works, teaching or leadership within the field of interventional radiology and who have made significant contributions to the society.  

“Each new SIR Fellow has demonstrated a level of excellence in research, mentorship and patient care that has propelled interventional radiology forward,” said SIR President Charles E. Ray Jr., M.D., PhD, FSIR, professor and head of the department of radiology at the University of Illinois, Chicago. “Their commitment to our specialty ensures that interventional radiology remains synonymous with modern medicine, developing breakthrough, minimally invasive treatments that maximize patient care.”
