On Dec. 16, 2025, the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society, and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions submitted joint comments requesting revisions to the draft coverage criteria for angioplasty and stenting in peripheral artery disease (PAD) to better align with patient-centered care and clinical judgment. Specifically, we request that the mandatory 3-month conservative management requirement for activity-limiting claudication and the 2-week waiting period for diabetic foot or lower-limb ulcers be removed to avoid unnecessary delays in care and to reduce the risk of disability or limb loss.
