SIR supports bill to provide medical student loan relief
SIR has endorsed the Resident Education Deferred Interest Act (REDI Act), which, if enacted, would increase the number of doctors in underserved areas by allowing them to defer student loan payments without interest until the completion of their residency or internship programs.
The bill was introduced by Reps. Brian Babin, R-Texas, and Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., in the House and is sponsored by Sen. Jackie Rosen, D-Nev., and Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark. in the Senate.
