SIR CPT® Julie C. Bulman, MD, and SIR staff attended the American Medical Association (AMA) CPT® Editorial Panel meeting from Apr 30–May 2, with an ancillary role in 18 code change applications, and met with multiple vendors onsite. If Category I codes are approved, they will be referred to the Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC) for surveying at the Sept 2026 meeting.  CAT III codes approved at this meeting will take effect on Jan. 1, 2027. CAT I codes will take effect Jan. 1, 2028.

SIR RUC Advisor Minhaj S. Khaja, MD, MBA, FSIR, and SIR staff attended the AMA RUC meeting from Apr. 23–25. SIR presented two action plans in collaboration with societies. CMS will address RUC recommendations in the 2028 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) rule. All RUC recommendations, minutes and votes will be publicly available online.
