Anthem letter
On June 4, SIR in collaboration with the American Venous Forum, American Vein & Lymphatic Society, Society for Vascular Surgery, American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions sent a letter to Elevance Health providing literature and standard of practice for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic venous insufficiency to address the not medically necessary policy determination for Anthem for cyanoacrylate closure. We are preparing to meet with the medical director to have a clinically focused conversation on this issue.
Humana letter
On May 12, SIR in collaboration with 11 medical societies, sent a letter to Humana regarding access to care for peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) therapy, the ongoing prior authorization delays and denials for patients seeking access to this life-changing, non-opioid treatment. We encourage Humana to fulfill its obligations to honor the Nation Coverage Determination (NCD) for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries who should receive the same access to care as those on Traditional Medicare.
