CMS has proposed several changes to the Quality Payment Program (QPP) for the 2027 performance year that may affect quality reporting for interventional radiologists. The Quality performance category will continue to account for 30% of the final MIPS score, with a 75% data completeness requirement. A key proposed change would replace the requirement to report an outcome or high-priority measure with a requirement to report at least one newly designated MIPS core measure. CMS is also proposing to sunset traditional MIPS after 2028, requiring clinicians to transition to MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs) beginning in 2029. As CMS prepares for this transition, practices are encouraged to complete the MVP Adoption Survey to share their experiences, challenges, and readiness for MVP reporting.

For more information on the proposed QPP changes, review the CMS 2027 QPP Fact Sheet.
