SIR’s Carrier Advocacy Workgroup has identified recent denials for coverage of genicular nerve ablation, when performed following a diagnostic genicular nerve block, for the treatment of knee pain related to osteoarthritis or post-knee arthroplasty pain. In response, the workgroup has developed a new evidence-based coverage letter, “Genicular Nerve Ablation and Preceding Genicular Nerve Block.” SIR members can download the letter now by visiting the IR Business Center.
