SIR congratulates former SIR president Alan H. Matsumoto, MD, FSIR, who was elected president of the American College of Radiology (ACR) on May 4, during the ACR’s annual meeting.
Dr. Matsumoto was SIR’s president from 2015–2016, and was honored with the SIR Gold Medal and Charles T. Dotter Lecture in 2019 and the SIR Foundation Frederick S. Keller, MD, Philanthropy Award in 2021. He is a professor and former chairman of the University of Virginia’s Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging, serving from 2009 to 2024. He also is the outgoing chair of ACR’s Board of Chancellors and served on ACR’s Commission on Interventional and Cardiovascular Imaging.
