The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized the IR Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway (MVP) as a voluntary reporting option for the 2026 performance period. SIR will continue to advocate for the MVP to remain voluntary in future years. SIR provided comments that the IR MVP should remain a voluntary reporting option alongside traditional MIPS and alternative payment models (APMs), allowing clinicians and groups to choose the pathway that best aligns with their practice structure and patient population. This flexibility is essential to accurately reflect the specialty’s unique role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.
