This year’s forum at SIR 2026 featured four selected quality improvement (QI) projects, representing high-impact, real-world initiatives aimed at improving patient care, safety, and efficiency. The forum serves as a national platform for interventional radiology teams to showcase their quality improvement (QI) work, exchange ideas with peers, and inspire innovation across the specialty.

The Best Presentation Award was presented to Robert F. Short, MD, for the project: “The MINT Clinic: An Interventional Radiology–Based Quality Improvement Model to Reduce Lung Cancer Treatment Delays." Co-authors on the study include Lillian Nguyen, BS; Alisha Ritter, RN; Emily Boldman, PA-C; and Joshua Hamilton, MD, representing Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

The project addressed delays between lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, which are associated with worse patient outcomes.
