SIR sections

ACIR (Association of Chiefs of Interventional Radiology) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of Interventional Radiology by the promotion of medical education, research and patient care, the development of methods of undergraduate and graduate teaching in Interventional Radiology and the provision of a forum for discussion of problems and mutual interest among Interventional Radiology Chiefs.

Educate chiefs on all aspects of how to run an IR section or division. This would include education about administration, politics, educational issues and clinical issues that the IR chief would need to manage. This will take the form of both presentations and materials from content experts but more importantly by free exchange of ideas during discussions and electronic forums.
Provide a forum for sharing of ideas and information unique to the needs of IR chiefs.
Allow gathering of information about trends or challenges that IR chiefs are seeing.
Provide mechanisms for easy gathering of data to allow IR chiefs to benchmark their practice against others.
Provide another avenue of communication from SIR regarding information that would be of particular interest to IR chiefs.
Help develop the skills and knowledge of junior chiefs so that they can seek and participate in leadership positions within their institutions and the SIR.

The ACIR Fall meeting provides an opportunity for current and aspiring IR leaders in both academic and private practices to contribute to the development of IR practice standards, metrics and benchmarks.
