SIR Medical Student Scholars Program

The SIR Medical Student Scholars Program provides medical students in the U.S. and Canada with the opportunity to learn about IR early in their medical careers by selecting scholars to attend the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting - the experience includes dedicated educational programming, presentations from leaders in the field of interventional radiology, and networking opportunities with IRs. SIR Resident-in-Training Scholars Program

The SIR Resident-in-Training Scholars Program provides PGY-1, IR and DR residents in their early years of residency in the U.S, and Canada with the opportunity to experience IR early in their career. Scholars are selected to attend the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting which includes dedicated educational programming, presentations from IR leaders, dedicated hands-on sessions, and networking opportunities with IRs from around the globe. SIR/RFS Clinical Advancement Award Residents pursuing interventional radiology in the second through fourth postgraduate years (PGY-2-4) often lose clinical skills they developed during their internship as they focus on expanding their knowledge in diagnostic radiology.

Outstanding interventional radiologists that have mastered the integration of both procedural and clinical excellence throughout their residency is paramount. The SIR RFS Clinical Advancement Award will acknowledge one (1) outstanding resident annually who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to their clinical advancement during the early postgraduate years.

Awardees will receive recognition within the SIR membership (including APDIR and RFS) presented during the resident dedicated programming at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting.

SIR Foundation Resident/Fellow Research Award

The SIR Foundation Dr. Constantin Cope Research Award and Resident/Fellow Research Award provides medical students and residents the opportunity to attend and present scientific research at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. SIR Foundation awards and grants

GEMS (Grants for Education of Medical Students) Program

The GEMS Program provides travel grants to ease the financial burden for third and fourth-year medical students who participate in a visiting clerkship/rotation in IR at a program outside of their home institution.

Research awards

The Dr. Constantin Cope Research Award and Resident/Fellow Research Award provide medical students, residents and fellows with an opportunity to attend and present scientific research at the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. The intent is to expose young researchers who wish to further their careers in interventional radiology to the greater IR community.

Summer Medical Student Internship Program

The Summer Medical Student Internship Program introduces medical students to interventional radiology research and medical device development.

Research grants

The Dr. and Mrs. W.C. Culp Student Research Grant and the Radiology Resident Research Grant support research and the advancement of interventional radiology and patient care by funding a research project in an area identified by SIR Foundation.
