Investing in SIR goes beyond professional development—it is an investment in your colleagues and partners who are working together every day to make interventional radiology the world’s first choice in image-guided medicine. SIR's membership consists of over 7,000 members involved in all aspects of interventional radiology and who make up the IR team. SIR members enjoy access to various benefits that provide them with resources, advocacy and engagement at every stage of their career. Learn about these benefits and join SIR.
Membership will connect you to a global network of elite IR professionals, amplify your voice in IR providing policy and advocacy support, and provide savings and access to member benefits. The unique knowledge and experience each of our members bring the highest quality resources in education, policy, the pioneering of research interventional radiology and above all, advancing the care for patients through disease management and minimally invasive, image-guided therapeutic intervention.
Fellowship (FSIR designation) is one of the most prestigious honors granted to SIR's Active and Corresponding members, and is the ultimate recognition of professional achievement.
Based on outstanding credentials, achievements and community contributions to internvetional radiology medicine and SIR and SIR Foundation, those who are elected to Fellowship signal to peers and patients their commitment to quality IR care through use of the FSIR designation. SIR Fellows include practitioners in all interventionalradiology clinical practice areas.
SIR and its SIR Foundation encourage members to apply to join an education or clinically-focused committee, or one of the many other committees that fit your area of expertise or interest. These committees offer you opportunities to influence the practice and study of medicine, network with colleagues in your field of expertise, and participate in leadership activities of the Society and SIR Foundation.
SIR has long subscribed to a body of ethical statements developed primarily for the benefit of the patient. As a member of this profession, an Interventional Radiologist must recognize responsibility not only to patients, but also to society, to other physicians, to other health professionals, and to self. All members are encouraged to review and understand all SIR policies.
SIR’s Awards Program recognizes excellence, extraordinary contributions and distinguished service to the Society and the profession. The SIR Foundation awards recognize and promote innovation within SIR and the profession. They also expose fellows, residents, and medical students to the annual meeting and interventional radiology research opportunities.Learn more
