Clinical care

Consult, examine, review, discuss, educate, follow up, monitor.

Your IR physician can provide coordinated clinical care throughout your healthcare journey.

As clinical care physicians, interventional radiologists are more than just specialists who perform a procedure to treat your medical problem or disease. We practice coordinated care—in clinics and on collaborative teams—expertly, consistently and in ways that help you achieve the best health possible.

Clinical care means we manage your health issues or disease treatment throughout the entire episode of your care--before, during and after your procedure--and even throughout your lifetime.

Interventional radiologists often work as part of a collaborative team—partnering with your primary care physician or referring specialist to provide you with total care.

Over the course of your treatment, you may move in and out of the interventional plan of care as your disease or condition changes. But your IR physician will remain an integral part of your care team every step of the way.

Clinical care for a lifetime

Clinical care begins with an initial consultation, (which sometimes includes therapeutic intervention) and continues over time to the resolution of your clinical problem or to the determination of an alternative care plan.

To deliver the best outcomes for our patients, interventional radiologists are actively involved in the pre- and post-procedural care that surrounds many IR treatments:

Pre-procedural consultations are an integral part of the relationship between you and your interventional radiologist. In many instances, the consultation begins even before we meet you, as we work closely with referring physicians across multiple disciplines to ensure appropriate care.

If we’re seeing you in our office or clinic before your procedure, we’ll sit down and talk with you to understand your issues and/or pain, review your past medical and surgical history, assess the results of prior diagnostic testing, explain treatment options, and answer any questions you have.

Post-procedural office visits are equally important after an interventional procedure. Nobody is better suited to evaluate your health and the results of an interventional procedure than an interventional radiologist. IR doctors are specialists at monitoring your condition over the course of time and recommending further treatments, as needed.

We are there for you throughout your healthcare journey.

Interventional radiologists provide clinical care for our patients…we're there for you before, during and after your treatment.

Navigating the healthcare system

Ensuring you get the right care at the right time from the right person is a vital aspect of clinical care—and a unique role that IR physicians play on your healthcare journey.

Interventional radiologists are uniquely qualified to help you navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. Here’s why:

  • Unlike specialists who only treat a particular disease or organ, IR physicians have multidimensional expertise across numerous specialties, so we can apply our extensive knowledge across the spectrum of your care.
  • What’s more, we treat patients from head to toe, so we have unparalleled breath of knowledge about the human anatomy and interconnected organ systems.
  • Because we partner with many other physicians—ranging from primary care to virtually every specialty—we have established connections and strong relationships that can help you get exactly the care that you need.
