The SIR Virtual Angio Club launched in October 2020, with over 600 registrants representing 26 countries around the world. Raj Pyne, MD, FSIR, Andrew Gunn, MD, and Jaimin D. Shah, MD, MBA, RPVI played a crucial role in shaping the original program, with assistance from the membership committee and early career section members who reviewed submitted cases and moderated the live webinar chats and Q&A.
Since then, the program has evolved to showcase cases from across the country, as presented by local angio clubs, and now SIR’s Clinical Specialty Councils, and has become a mainstay of SIR’s educational programs.
In 2023, SIR and regional angiography clubs across the United States organized 5 angiography clubs featuring 30 speakers, 35 cases, and drawing a crowd of over 800 registrants.
In 2024, SIR's Clinical Specialty Councils, including venous, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), interventional oncology (IO), pediatrics, women's health, neurointerventional radiology, renal/GU, and pain management/ musculoskeletal (MSK), will host angio clubs dedicated to their respective specialty areas.
