Society of Interventional Radiology selects 34 Fellows

Physicians recognized for achievements in research, scientific literature, teaching and leadership at SIR 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting

LOS ANGELES (March 19, 2018)—The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) inducted 34 new Fellows during its Annual Scientific Meeting, March 17–22 in Los Angeles. This honor, achieved by fewer than 10 percent of SIR members, is bestowed to those who have demonstrated excellence in interventional radiology by virtue of research and published works, teaching, and leadership within the field, along with contributions and involvement within the society.

“SIR Fellows are the global leaders in interventional radiology, having demonstrated a level of dedication to the specialty through their patient care, their scientific research and their leadership within the society and their practices,” said SIR 2017–2018 President Suresh Vedantham, M.D., FSIR, an interventional radiologist, and professor of radiology and surgery at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis. “Their work and their mentorship of future interventional radiologists keeps our specialty on the cutting edge of modern medicine.”
