  • Understanding/analyzing the context of interventional radiology (history of interventional radiology; evolution of the practice of interventional radiology; current issues in the practice of interventional radiology
  • Improving the practice of interventional radiology (clinical/office practice, comprehensive care)

Submitting a Proposal

Send proposals via e-mail to Noemi C. Arthur, director of publications.

A proposal should include the following components:

  • An overview (abstract) of the contents, including a discussion of the proposed work's purpose and format (textbook, handbook, instructional videotape, reference source, etc.) and its contribution to the knowledge base
  • A detailed outline summarizing each chapter's coverage and the development of the work or an otherwise well-articulated summary of the content and development of the work and any additional materials that would be included in the final draft (i.e., foreword, images, tables, figures, appendices)
  • A list of proposed contributors for each chapter if a multi-author work
  • A sample chapter that illustrates both the scope of the proposed work and the writing style (If the work does not take the form of chapters, submit as much completed draft material as possible.)
  • Marketing information that discusses the intended audience, the timeliness of the material, similar publications that may compete with the proposed work and ways this work will differ from these
  • A time frame for completion of a draft for the proposed work

The Review Process

The SIR Publications Advisory Committee will review proposals to determine the feasibility of publication. If a proposal falls within the scope of SIR Press's publications program, a complete and blinded manuscript may be requested for submission for peer review. SIR Press strives to respond to proposals within 4-6 weeks.
