Political Action Committee

Strengthening the Voice of Interventional Radiology

SIRPAC exists to:

Elevate the profile of interventional radiology and SIR with its Members of Congress. Having a political action committee enables SIR to better leverage its lobbying efforts in Washington.

The main goals of SIRPAC are to:

  • Build relationships with key Members of Congress and their staffs
  • Help pro-IR individuals achieve or maintain national office
  • Compliment SIR’s communications, educational and research initiatives
  • Support legislation conducive to innovation in and patient access to IR services

As we were a new PAC in 2006, SIRPAC's Board of Directors chose to focus its first contributions on those Members of Congress who:

  • Supported legislation to delay the cuts in reimbursement that were imposed by the DRA
  • Supported legislation that would update the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
  • Held important positions within the Committees which have special significance to IR (e.g. the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee and the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, and the Senate Appropriations and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committees)

In this capacity SIRPAC is forging relationships with Members of Congress who are specifically interested in YOUR issues. For a complete listing of the Members of Congress that SIRPAC has supported, email sirpac@sirweb.org.
